Letter to Colonel Varick written from Albany, N.Y. during preparations for the Battle of Saratoga. Varick was Quarter Master General under Horatio Gates and was invited to stay at Schuyler's house in Saratoga. Schuyler makes several inquiries into the progress of the preparation.

Philip John Schuyler (November 20 [O.S. November 9] 1733 – November 18, 1804) was an American general in the Revolutionary War and a United States Senator from New York. He is usually known as Philip Schuyler, while his son is usually known as Philip J. Schuyler. Born in Albany, Province of New York, into the prosperous Schuyler family, Schuyler fought in the French and Indian War.
