Letter, 1799 February 27.

Letter to Stephen Van Rensselaer. "My son William having some business to transact at Albany, carries with him the notes due last March in order to effect a settlement of them with you. There is due on them calculating interest up to the 3 March next, the sum of 4463.29 dollars. If you can possibly discharge this and take up the notes I request you will do it; if you cannot pay the whole, I have desired him to receive whatever you can pay and take your note at 90 days for the remainder, and to this I hope you will not have any objection. This will put the old notes out of the way. Those which fall due the 3/7th of next month, I flatter myself will meet due honor; should they not Mrs. S. Macomb will be greatly disrupted."
