Letter, 1853 December 29.

Pre-printed circular letter signed by Hamilton Fish, to Dr. J. Howard of Brooklyn, N.Y. The letter is sent by Fish as the chairman of a select U.S. Senate committee to inquire into the causes and the extent of sickness and mortality on board the emigrant ships. The letter asks the doctor to reply in writing his observations on the matter.
