Biographical notes on the Reverend James Johnston.

Rev. Johnston's son, William, wrote this brief biographical sketch of his father. Johnston (1749-1829) served in the British army during the American Revolution and remained in Virginia following the war. In 1781, he married Margaret Kirth of Fauquier County, a descendant of John Rolfe. Johnston became a Baptist minister and served the Waterlick Church, moving on to Rockingham County's Linville's and Smith Creek Churches for four years, then to Kanawha County for eight years, and finally to Fleming County, Kentucky.
