Interview conducted by Odessa Neaman as part of the LDS Native American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on July 18, 1990. Benally, a Navajo, talks about growing up near Shiprock, New Mexico. He tells about his school experiences including being in the Mormon Church Indian Placement Program. He talks about his conversion to the Mormon Church, his period of inactivity, his decision to go to Brigham Young University, his mission to the Southwest Indian Mission, and his experiences as a Mormon Church seminary teacher.
