Interview with Ervin Richard Guymon on 1 June 1978 under the subject of "Experiences in Blanding, Utah," conducted by Suzanne Shelton for the Southeastern Utah Project Oral History Program of California State University, Fulleton. Ervin describes his early childhood and family members in the Mormon colonies in Mexico. His parents found it difficult to move back into the United States because of the Mexican Revolution, but finally escaped the danger and settled in Blanding, San Juan County, Utah. Ervin discusses his childhood games, school and activities in Blanding, his parents lifestyle in Mexico and his missionary work with Indians (mostly Navajo). He married Beth Park in 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The second half of the manuscript is an interview of Beth Guymon conducted on 1 June 1978 by Eileen Pohl. Beth describes her Mormon genealogy and her childhood and family life in Salt Lake City. She moved to San Juan County as a young woman to teach school and met Ervin in Blanding. Beth discusses her marriage, children and grandchildren as well as her teaching career, the great flu epidemic, World War I and the changes in the LDS church during her lifetime.
