Yeates left his land and their rents to support two free schools in the lower parish of Nansemond County, Virginia. His other possessions and money he divided among the church, family, friends, and slaves. A one-page excerpt from the Yeates Free School catalog of 1861 gives details on the bequest of land and endowment for the schools, their maintenance through the years, and the final sale, in 1866, of the lands left to the schools. A note on the bottom of the will indicates the last school was sold in 1924. Yeates named John Moore as his executor. Heirs include: James Causten, Sarah Costen, Mary Hayes, William Hoffler, Nicholas Jones, Ruth Maning, Temar Maning, Edwin Shea, Thomas Watson, Joseph Wright, Joseph Wright, Jr., Margaret Wright, and the Lower Parish Church in Nansemond County.
