Letters to his mother, Mrs. Wilbur G. Griffes. [between 1904 and 1905]

Letter of Dec. 25, 1904: Griffes describes Christmas in Berlin, his friends and fellow residents at his pension, the gifts he received and sent to his family in Elmira, N.Y., and copying out his Sonato for piano as gifts for friends. Letter of July 17, 1905: Griffes writes about possibly trying to see and audition for the pianist/composer Conrad Ansorge, a recent bout of successful practice on the piano and playing for his friends Emil Joël and Frau Joël, and traveling in Berlin.
