Jerald Tanner, born June 1, 1938 and raised as a Mormon, was a prolific critic of the Mormon faith. Tanner, the founder of Utah Lighthouse Ministry, a non-profit organization devoted to criticism of the LDS Church, wrote over 40 books, including "Mormonism -- Shadow or Reality?" and "The Changing World of Mormonism."
