Handwritten diaries. Smith describes his life and activities for the Mormon Church and talks about Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the first president of the Mormon Church. John Smith migrated to Utah in 1847, served on two missions to Switzerland (1855-1858 and 1860-1863) for the Mormon Church, was a member of the Utah Militia during the Black Hawk War (1865-1872), and performed temple work in St. George. Some of the entries are detailed but many are very short.
