Collection contains nine cased photographs, consisting of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and albumen prints. There are various images of the Mickle family, some unidentified but including Elizabeth S. Mickle Cook, James Allen Olin, Rebecca Mickle Rice, and Belton and John Joseph Mickle. One daguerreotype of Elizabeth S. Mickle Cook and her baby Hampton Cook has been cleaned or has faded and the image is indistinct.

John Joseph Mickle, born in 1796, was a planter in Lowndes County, Ala. He served in the Mexican War and also as adjutant general for Alabama.
