The Nadine Gordimer collection consists of fourteen corrected typescripts, including thirteen short stories and one novel, A World of Strangers (1958). The short stories were published in Friday's Footprint (1960) and Not For Publication (1965). The collection contains only material relating to Gordimer's early work as a South African novelist and short story writer. There is no correspondence or material relating to her personal life.

Nadine Gordimer was born in Springs, South Africa in 1923. At age 13 she began her writing career, her first writings appearing in the children's section of the Johannesburg Sunday Express.
