Edwin Rolfe, born Solomon Fishman, was a journalist, author, and Communist Party activist. During the 1930s he was employed by the "Daily Worker." In the spring of 1937, he joined the International Brigades. After graduating from Princeton University, White taught English literature and composition at Brooklyn College and City College in New York City.
