Letter written at Spencer, N.Y. to Benjamin G. Ferris, Canandaigua. "...-Great alarm prevails here on account of the small pox there is but 2 or 3 cases of it in Spencer- but more near Owego Village, Thos. Fisher lately returned from N.Y. says the small pox is very mortal there particularly amongst the blacks."
