This collection contains 74 photoprints and three folders of miscellaneous items documenting twelve built works by the architectural firm of Tilden, Register? a photographic portrait of Tilden, ca. 1905; and a small amount of correspondence dated 1925 and 1953 related to the Dodge Residence. The collection includes no office files or architectural drawings. Nor is there any documentation of the following important projects: U.S. Post Office, Philadelphia; 1616 Walnut Street Building, Philadelphia; or Tilden's work as supervising architect of the Pentagon.

Marmaduke Tilden, Jr. (1883-1957) and H. Bartol Register (1886-1956) established the firm Tilden & Register in 1916. In 1925 George Wharton Pepper, Jr. (1895-1949) joined the partnership, forming the firm of Tilden, Register & Pepper.
