Petition : Sorel, Québec, to John Sullivan, 1776 June 12.

Buell was appointed by Gen. Philip Schuyler to command several posts in Québec and given money to purchase supplies, but was transferred before he could obtain receipts for purchases he made. This cost him money and reputation, and he petitions Sullivan for permission to go and settle accounts with Schuyler.

In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff.
