Stephen Eno (1764-1854) the son of William and Lillias (Hicks) Eno, Jr. was born in Simsbury, Connecticut. He held various positions including teacher until about 1796 when he received his license to practice in the New York Supreme Court. In 1803 he opened a practice in Pine Plains, N.Y. and became a prominent lawyer in Dutchess County, as did several generations after him.
