Biographical data on John Warren Beaman, 1870, 1872, 1960.

Beaman was a professor of natural science and civil engineering at the Red Wing Collegiate Institute, Minnesota, in 1872. A letter from his father, Warren H. Beaman, to Massachusetts congressman W. B. Washburn describes his son's qualifications and asks that he be appointed to the Montana Territory survey team (July 12, 1870). A letter from Beaman, Red Wing, to Dr. A. Peale concerns the loan of geological specimens gathered by Peale during a Yellowstone River survey (Oct. 26, 1872). Two letters between J. V. Howell, Oklahoma, and the Minnesota Historical Society contain further biographical data on Beaman (May 16, 23, 1960).
