In 1948 the Bureau of Airport Management, which supervised the General Edward Lawrence Logan Airport, was removed from the Division of Waterways and became a separate organizational entity within the Department of Public Works. Minutes of its commissioners' weekly meetings were created to describe official actions taken on matters concerning the maintenance and operation of the airport.
