This collection contains political campaign material, speeches, programs, photographs, certificates, political correspondence, scrapbooks, personal ephemera, and newspaper clippings. Of special interest are letters of congratulation from various businessmen and politicians of Alabama; a large number of speeches concerning Baggett's political career; and many articles on Baggett and the role of women. There is also a variety of personal ephemera such as poetry and jokes; and nearly 100 photographs of Agnes Baggett with other state officials.

Agnes Baggett was a Georgia native and married G. Lamar Baggett in 1926. She worked in Ala. state government for many years, including the offices of the Secretary of State (1927-1946); Assistant Clerk of the Supreme Court (1946-1950); Secretary of State (1951-1955); State Auditor (1955-1959); State Treasurer (1959-1962); Secretary of State (1963-1967); State Treasurer (1967-1975); and Secretary of State (1975-1979).
