Daniel Petrie (Nov. 26, 1920-Aug. 22, 2004) was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the youngest of six children born to William and Mary Campbell Petrie. His mother was a teacher, his father owned and operated a small soft drink company. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in Sydney, Nova Scotia with an Arts degree.
