This collection consists of a photograph album of Jeanes Foundation activities in Negro schools in Ala. during 1915. Most of the photographs show school buildings, foundation program activities, Jeanes workers, Negro students and teachers, home and school demonstration classes, and training programs. Two individuals who appear often in the photographs are A.A. Persons and James L. Sibley, Ala. Negro School supervisor. Also included with the photographs are county reports of the Foundation's activities. The one or two page reports list training program enrollment, character of attendance, program supervisors and their program activity, spirit of the participant's work, and distinctive features of the program. Thirty-one counties are represented in the album. The photographs document the conditions and educational programs of Negro rural schools in Ala., ca.1915. The reports are an excellent source of Jeanes Foundation activities and programs in Ala. and its specific educational goals for Negro rural schools.

The Anna T. Jeanes Foundation was established by the will of Anna T. Jeanes in 1907 to assist southern rural, community, and country Negro schools and to encourage moral influence and social refinement among Negroes.
