ALS, 1780 Sept. 4, West Point, N.Y., to James Livingston, Kings Ferry, N.Y.

Informs Livingston, commanding troops at Kings Ferry, that Washington has ordered posts in the highlands of the Hudson evacuated in the event of a British attack. Arnold has sent boats to move troops, cannon, and stores from Kings Ferry to West Point, but Livingston is not to move unless and until he decides that an attack is imminent.
