An oral history interview with Arnold Sundgaard / conducted for the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music by David Farneth, 1996 May 13 : recording and transcript.

The bulk of the interview concerns Sundgaard's collaboration with Kurt Weill on the folk opera Down in the valley (1945-48)--its genesis and different versions it went through before the first production, as well as some productions and recordings after the premiere. He also discusses his relationship with Weill and other composers he worked with, notably Alec Wilder and Douglas Moore. Following the transcript, a brief written account describes Bertolt Brecht's interest in Sundgaard's play, The great campaign.
