Abstract

This collection consists primarily of letters, receipts, and legal documents of the Pearsall Family. The letters speak of everyday life ca. 1740-1840. Included also are a number of Quaker meeting letters. Various records relate to Nathaniel Pearsall and Robert Bowne's real estate business, Bowne and Pearsall. Included with these are land deeds, receipts, and letters of argument which evidence Joseph Pearsall's role in his father's business.

Nathaniel Pearsall and Robert Bowne were real estate businessmen. Nathaniel Pearsall, son of Thomas Pearsall, married Mary Latham. He resided at Cow Neck, Long Island, New York. Joseph Pearsall, son of Nathaniel and Mary Pearsall resided at Butternut, New York City and Flushing, Long Island, New York. He married Hannah Bowne, daughter of Robert Bowne.
