Divisional college files, 1980-[ongoing].

The Department of Post-Secondary Education was established as a separate state agency in May, 1982. The department is responsible to the State Board of Education which appoints a chancellor and authorizes him to act and make decisions concerning the management and operation of the Alabama College System (Ala. Acts, No. 82-486 [1982]). This series consists of divisional college files maintained by each division and documenting a division's activities relating to the management of the Alabama College System. Typical records in these files include correspondence, budget information, purchasing information, requests for placing faculty on salary schedules, program approvals, in-service requests for faculty, catalog changes, enrollment audit reports, calendar approvals, requests for policy clarification, and general legal guidance. The bulk of these files consists of copies of correspondence and memoranda sent out under the chancellor's signature and duplicated in the Chancellor's College Files (S-68-1).
