Package inspection reports, 1968-1969.

The primary function fo the Dept. of Agriculture and Industries Weights and Measures Division (currently the Weights and Measures/Gins and Warehouses Division) was to ensure equity in commercial transactions involving quantity. Inspectors tested packaged products in retail businesses around the state to ensure that the quantity statements were correct. Only reasonable variations in package weight, measure and count were tolerated. (Ala. Code 1958, Title 2, Para. 612 and 616). This record consists of completed package report forms. Information provided on the form includes the type of error (weight, price, or labeling), the type of commodity and the brand, remarks and action, and the signature of the inspector.
