Records retention schedule reference files, 1966-1982.

As the support staff for the State Records Commission, the Records Management Division of the Dept. of Archives and History personnel serve as contacts for state and local agencies seeking assistance with policies, procedures, and standards related to public records. As part of its services, the Records Management Division assists in drafting and evaluating records retention schedules for presentation for approval to the State Records Commission. This series is composed of records created and used in the process of developing records retention schedules for state agencies. Included in the files is structural and administrative information on the state agencies that received scheduling assistance from the division. A large part of the series is composed of photocopies of pages from the Code of Alabama pertaining to records management and records retention schedules prepared for different state agencies.
