Louisiana sugar and rice trade collection, 1884-1936.

Louisiana Sugar and Rice Exchange Records (1891-1936) consist of correspondence, form letters, announcements, financial reports, minutes of meetings, and broadsides. Four manuscript volumes (1884-1923) entitled APPEALS, ARBITRATION, FLOOR, AND QUOTATIONS AND CLASSIFICATIONS contain minutes and records of the exchange. The two printed volumes include CHARTER, BY-LAWS AND RULES, by the New Orleans Rice Clearing Association (1923), and RULES GOVERNING TRADING IN SUGAR FOR FUTURE DELIVERY, by the Louisiana Sugar and Rice Exchange (1922). Papers of Raymond J. Martinez include letters which discuss advertising space in THE RICE JOURNAL; statistics of the rice industry; and items for publication. Some letters concern the Rice Experiment Station at Crowley, Louisiana. Form letters of THE RICE JOURNAL and the National Syrup and Molasses Association are included. Photographs depict the International Harvester Company equipment and some individuals; papers and letters concerning the photographs are included. The collection includes parts of a draft copy of an article by Mrs. W. N. Ginn (publishing as Mildred K. Ginn) entitled, "New History of Rice Industry in America," (1932)
