V. 1 is the 1881 edition of The Pendulograph..., containing 22 plates and manuscript additions, including four loose pendulograph drawings and four pendulographs inserted in the printed text. Also contains a printed handbill advertising the publication of The Pendulograph. V. 2 is a scrapbook of 70 pendulograph drawings with a printed explanation of the pendulograph pasted on the front inside cover. Also contains two loose sheets : one is memoranda regarding the deaths of John W. Keely, Dr. Joseph Leidy and Mrs. Bloomfield Moore and the other is another pendulograph drawing.

Philadelphia-born naturalist. Leidy studied medicine and anatomy and received the degree of M.D. at the University of Pennsylvania in 1844. He died in 1891 recognized as the foremost American anatomist of his time. Among many interests, parasitology had been a favorite study of Leidy.
