This collection consists of correspondence, journals, various writings, and maps prepared by Eaton. A large percentage of the correspondence is from Stephen Van Rensselaer, patron of the Rensselaer Institute. The journals cover Eaton's various geological surveys including his survey of the Erie Canal and the lands surrounding it.
