Business and personal correspondence of Hopkins and members of his family. A significant portion of the personal letters are to Hopkins' son Charles who resided in Mobile, Ala. These letters discuss family matters, current events, and local events of note. Hopkins' business letters concern his stock purchases, his various other business dealings, and the settlement of his estate. The collection contains several inventories completed by Hopkins listing his assets and liabilities and his account book, dating from 1829 to 1847.
