Correspondence, two musical scores, a printed poem, a marriage certificate, and a weekly class schedule. In addition, the collection includes the poem "Niederländisches Dankgebet" by Emma Weill, a manuscript of a monophonic setting by Albert Weill of a text beginning "Es schaukeln die Winde," a holograph musical score, in two parts, containing Kurt Weill's sketches for Sulamith (filed as Ser.12/30), and Kurt's weekly class schedule at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik. Finally, there are four items not on the accessions list for this collection, but considered part of it: Kurt and Lenya's marriage certificate (Charlottenburg, 1926).; 2-3) two published scores of music by Albert Weill: Synagogen-Gesänge [für] Cantor und Männerchor (Frankfurt a.M.: A.J. Hofmann, 1893) and Der Ewige gebe Dir seinen Segen: Motette für gemischten Chor und Tenor-Solo mit Orgelbegleitung (Leipzig: M.W. Kaufmann, [n.d.]); and 4) 4 p. of cantillation notation with the title "Excerpt from the Bible" and the ascription "Genesis Cap.XLIV, 11-17," with text in Hebrew letters and text underlay in Hebrew in Roman letters. As a result of the success of his Broadway musical Lady in the dark in 1941, German-born composer Kurt Weill and his wife, the singing actress Lotte Lenya, were able to buy "Brook House," in Rockland County, New York, moving there during their sixth year in the United States. From Brook House, and a couple of addresses in Los Angeles during his trips there, Weill kept in touch, until a month before his death, with his parents, who had emigrated to Israel in 1935. The branch of the Weill family represented is that of Albert Weill (1867-1952): his wife Emma (1871-1957), their children Nathan (1898-1957), Kurt (1900-1950), and Ruth (1901-ca. 1975), Ruth's husband Leo Sohn (b. 1893), and Kurt's wife, Lotte Lenya (1898-1981).
