State Survey, Geologist of Cal., 1860-74, opened Harvard School of Mines, 1868, elected to Geol. Soc. of London. Author of Metal Wealth of the U.S. and other books. Married Louisa Goddard Howe in June, 1854, had 1 daughter. Died...
