Kenneth J. Carpenter, librarian, came to the University of Nevada in 1962. Among the positions he held until his retirement in 1981, was assistant and associate library director, and head of the Special Collections Department. In addition, he and his wife, Patricia, founded the Black Rock Press in 1964, dedicated to the practice and teaching of finely printed books. During his tenure, Carpenter was active in the Faculty Senate, and served as an Executive Board member for the University of Nevada...

Levenson, Roger, 1914-1994

Roger Levenson was born in Bangor, Maine on October 10, 1914. He studied printing while attending the University of Maine. He served in Hawaii during WWII and settled in the San Francisco Bay area where he spent the rest of his life. He founded and operated the Tamalpais Press from circa 1955-1976 when he retired. Levenson also taught a class titled "The History of the Book" at UC Berkeley for 12 years. Levenson died in 1994. From the description of Roger Levenson papers, circa 1960-...
