Correspondence, minutes, program and financial reports and records, programs for events, and scrapbooks. Correspondence consists of letters between Rosalie Stern and Elise Haas--as presidents of the Board of Trustees--and musicians, conductors, performers, agents, dance and theater companies, and the San Francisco Musicians Union, Local 6 of American Federation of Musicians; as well as letters relating to fundraising activities. Minutes of the Board of Trustees provide detailed information concerning policy and planning issues, finances, and the performances. Financial reports and records include Season reports, weekly reports (1960- ), information on donors and donations, checks and check stubs, bank statements, W2 forms, and payroll account books. Scrapbooks mostly contain newspaper clippings from the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner. Includes records (1936-1941) of San Francisco Recreation Commission, consisting of Stern's correspondence with various officials; correspondence of Josephine Randall, superintendent of the Recreation Commission for many years and a prime mover in the development of the San Francisco city park system; and minutes.

Elise Stern Haas was born in San Francisco on Oct. 29, 1893, the only child of Rosalie Meyer and Sigmund Stern. Her father was president of Levi Strauss and Co., and nephew of Levi Strauss, who founded the firm in 1850. In 1914, she married Walter A. Haas, president of Levi Strauss and Co. from 1928 to 1955.
