William Boswell papers, 1603-1647 (inclusive), [microform].

A collection of correspondence and other papers to and from Sir Dudley Carleton, English ambassador to the States General of the United Provinces of the Netherlands, and his successor Sir William Boswell, 1603-1647, vol 1. Much of the correspondence concerns the condition of English churches in the Netherlands. The collection contains single letters written by Puritan divines John Cotton and John Davenport and larger numbers of letters from George Beaumont, Richard Dell, Stephen Goffe, and M. Harris. The originals are British Museum MSS. Add. 6394.

John Davenport (1597-1669/70) was reared in Coventry, Warwickshire, England. He was curate of St. Lawrence Jewry in London from 1619 to 1624, and graduated from Oxford in 1625. Davenport served as vicar of St. Stephen's parish in London from 1625 to 1633.
