Democratic and Democratic-Farmer-Labor politics on the local, state, and national levels; travel; the practice of law; and family matters are documented in the letters, legal papers, speeches, clippings, minutes, campaign materials, diaries, and scrapbooks of the Meighen family of Albert Lea, Freeborn County (Minn.). Materials before 1890 are largely legal documents of Joseph Meighen and Dryden Smith. From 1890 to 1960 the papers and diaries are primarily those of John F.D.
