The series consists of minute books created by the organizations responsible for the operation of the Dept. of Public Health. The minute books in this series are labeled Board of Censors or State Committee of Public Health and the Council for the Merit System for County Health Services. There are twenty-one volumes labeled Board of Censors. This number includes one handwritten volume dated 1907 to 1910. The additional volumes are dated 1911 Jan. to 1973 Dec. The minute books of the Committee of Public Health are dated 1974 Jan. to the present. Companion volumes of exhibits presented at each meeting are also included with the books. The Council for the Merit System for County Health Services created thirteen volumes of minutes dated 1944 to 1967.
