The Dept. of Mental Health and Mental Retardation is responsible for providing mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse services for the people of Alabama. This series consists of subisdiary ledgers, 1983-1986, of accounts of institutions, individuals and other vendors under contract with the Dept. to provide mental health care services. Subsidiary ledgers consist of monthly computer spread sheets showing an itemized breakdown of each individual account of each vendor. Vendors may include nonprofit organizations such as the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) or private businesses such as nursing homes and foster care facilities. This series provides detailed financial information on vendor contracts for community programs but virtually no information concerning the types of services provided through the programs.
