Corporate history and the records of the corporate archivist, 1934-1997 1988-1994.

The series presents records used and created by Philip Cantelon in preparation of his history of MCI, The History of MCI: 1968-1988, The Early Years. A diverse selection of papers copied from the corporate records of MCI make up Cantelon's subject files in subseries A, along with press clippings and Cantelon's notes on interviews and research materials, presented alphabetically by folder title. The subseries also includes a number of accounts from various current and former employees concerning various aspects of MCI's business and history, along with a small amount of original material not otherwise found in the MCI records at Hagley. A small subgroup of records concerned with publication and distribution of the final book are appended, including an early draft under the title Waves of Change. Subseries B is comprised of preparatory materials for Cantelon's oral history project, presenting transcripts, drafts and bound copies of interviews with senior MCI executives, ex-employees and other significant figures in MCI's history. Subseries C includes miscellaneous working records, project files, and other records from the office of the MCI Corporate Archivist, Adam Gruen.
