This series consists of the administrative correspondence of Deborah Skaggs, Assistant Director for Records Management Division of the Ala. Dept. of Archives and History. The series documents the administration of the division from 1987 to 1989. Included are memoranda to division and departmental staff concerning such topics as renovation of staff offices; implementation of security systems for the Archives building; notification of Appraisal Committee and Records Commission meetings; and supervision of student interns within the division. Much of the correspondence is with members of the State and Local Government Records Commissions concerning the establishment of retention schedules for government records; with Alabama newspaper publishers, probate judges, libraries and private individuals concerning microfilming newspapers; and with members of professional organizations such as the Society of American Archivists and the National Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators dealing with topics like the appraisal and management of electronic records.
