The Governor is the chief executive of the state whose function is to administer the laws of the state. One of the activities used to accomplish this function is the appointing of individuals to various state and local offices and the signing of grants and commissions. This series contains correspondence, concerning resignations, recommendations, and gubernatorial appointments to various county positions. It also contains the governor's file copy of official letters of appointment sent to appointees, internal office memoranda, and a few newspaper clippings relative to the appointee or the office. A legal description of the commission, board or position and the current membership with the term expiration and addresses of members are included as well.
