Daybook, 1918-1943.

These two items record daily financial transactions of the Quaker City Stained Glass Works. Vol. 1 contains entries from 1918-1922 and vol. 2 contains entries from 1929-1943. These entries relate to the installation and repair of clear leaded and stained glass windows and doors in various homes, business buildings, churches, and synagogues. Among the local Philadelphia entries are Woolworth's, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Philadelphia Free Library. Other notable entries include Kennett Square. Presbyterian Church, St. Andrews School in Middletown, Delaware, a private home in the Westover Hills neighborhood of Wilmington, Delaware, and the ceiling for the concert hall at Longwood Gardens. Other entries document installations in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, and Santo Domingo. Some specialty items such as china cabinets and covers for water fountains are mentioned. Many entries indicate that the labor was performed as a subcontractor. Supplies purchased from the Philadelphia Supply Company are also listed.

Quaker City Stained Glass Works, formerly known as H.J. Smith and Sons, later known as Quaker City Lead Works, operated in Philadelphia beginning in 1872.
