This collection concerns mainly the claims of Virginia Revolutionary War soldiers and sailors or their heirs to bounty land located in Kentucky and Ohio. Included are correspondence, court records, surveys, military warrants, etc., most of which were sent either to Anderson or to Latham to substantiate claims.

Richard Clough Anderson was born on January 12, 1750 at Goldmine, Hanover County, Virgina, to Robert Anderson, the son of a Scottish immigrant, and Elizabeth Clough.
