Records the activities of what was apparently a busy store for a tenth month period at the end of the Civil War. The variety of goods sold was wide, including tableware, tumblers, tin plates, tea kettles, thimbles, "stoppers," goblets, glasses, dippers, trays, ice-cutters, ice picks, bowls, lamps, lamp globes, hat trees, wagons, toy carts, skates, carpets, mats, feathers, feather dusters, brooms, baskets, brushes, beds, and bell cords. Such household and hardware lines as sofas, zinc washboards, tubs, sinks, many types of pails, six-quart bowls, bread and milk pans, mold boards, coal shovels, dust pans, milk pans, flour sieves, tin, zinc, bolts, nails, and shoe polish were also available. Parts for stoves and stove tops, including pipe elbows, grates, and dampers were carried in the store. Currier was also involved in the purchase and sale of substantial volumes of white and colored rags, rope, and renmants. The firm did repair work on lamps, buggy wheels, and stoves and undertook small soldering jobs in addition to its retail trade. Names of prominent Haverhill individuals and families are mentioned throughout the volume. Although entries are brief, some information on the occupations of customers is provided. For example, Miss Durent was the school teacher, Peter Gildea furnished lumber, and Abel Chase ran a steam mill.
