Extract from a letter, 1813 (?) July 27, from John Innerarity in Pensacola, Fla., to James Innerarity in Mobile, Ala., which discusses the Choctaw and Creek uprising against the Americans led by Peter McQueen, and McQueen's attempt, basically unsuccessful, to get guns, swords, and gunpowder with which to attack Mobile, from John Forbes and Co. Also reflected in the letter is the tension between McQueen and the Creeks on one side, and the Governor of West Florida and John Innerarity on the other. The Governor's gift of clothing and gunpowder to the Indians is mentioned too.

John Innerarity was the representative in Pensacola, Fla., of the mercantile house of John Forbes and Co. of Mobile, Ala., which succeeded the firm of Panton, Leslie and Co. Alexander McGillivray is said to have been a silent partner in both firms, which specialized in the Indian trade. The Forbes firm was controlled by the Innerarity brothers, James and John, and by John Forbes, though James seems to have managed the firm as well as his own cotton plantation.
