Songs of My People 1990-1994.

Consists of photographic material created in the course of planning the publication, exhibition and video "Songs of My People". All images from the publication and exhibitions are included. There are also extensive photographs and contact sheets created in the course of the project. Photographic subjects include Colin Powell, Nelson Mandela, Winnie Mandela, Roy DeCarava, Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson, Jacob Lawrence, John Lee Hooker,Bo Diddley, Quincey Jones, Cleo Fields, Thurgood Marshall, Atallah Shabazz, David Dinkins, Marion Barry, George Clinton and Willie T. Ribbs. Other photographs depict life as lived by ordinary African Americans. Also contains press clippings, videotapes, correspondence and subject files.
