This series consists of correspondence received and generated by the director pertaining to the development of aviation and airports (county, city, and private) in South Carolina. Subjects include the construction, maintenance, and repair of airports; appropriations and expenditures for the operation of airports; specifications and plans for airports; requests for assistance of federal and state legislators on aviation legislation and federal funding; and requests from legislators about the status of aviation programs. Also contained are program reports as well as plats, copies of leases, and other material pertaining to surplus World War II military installations being considered for turnover to the state of South Carolina.
