The four Georges : lecture notes, [ca. 1855].

Reading notes and anecdotes that formed the substance of Thackeray's lectures on the political and social life of Georgian England. The volume accompanied Thackeray on his second lecture tour of the United States in 1855. Portions are in Thackeray's hand and others in those of his daughters, Harriet Marian Thackeray Stephen and Anne Thackeray Ritchie; his secretary George Hodder; and Charles Pearman, his attendant on the tour. At the end of the volume are lists of lecture engagements and requests, and names and addresses of persons connected with them and others whom he met or visited during his tour, including many prominent figures of the day. Accompanied by a note by Anne Thackeray Ritchie, 1914, about the compilation of the volume.
